What is Matcha Tea?

Matcha is a premium green tea unique to Japan. Prior to being harvested, matcha tea plants are covered with shade cloths to enhance their flavor, texture and nutritional value. The leaves are then hand picked, steamed, dried, and aged in cold storage to deepen their flavor. They are then ground into the fine green powder that is known as matcha tea.

When you consume a traditional green tea, you are simply consuming infused hot water. However, when you consume matcha tea you actually ingest the tea leaves in full. In this, the health benefits of matcha far outweigh those of traditional green tea. In fact, the nutritional value of a single glass of matcha equates to 10 glasses of traditional green tea.
